Walter & Irene Heidenreich
In the beginning ...
When Walter & Irene became radical followers of Jesus in 1973, they were already looking back on an eventful past. Make love, not war – love, freedom, drugs, music – the flower power movement determined their lives. They were fascinated and drawn by the supernatural, and combined with the often use of drugs they very quickly became captives of a vicious circle of occultism and addiction.
"God, if you are real, I need you now!" This cry of desperation changed everything. At a drug party, in the midst of chaos and confusion, they encountered the peace of God and suddenly had assurance that God is real. Walter & Irene radically wiped the slate clean. They were transformed from straying Hippie kids into people with a clear mind and a determination, filled with the burning desire to introduce as many as possible to the love of Jesus. This was the beginning of the greatest adventure of their lives!
Lüdenscheid
In 1977, Walter & Irene moved to Lüdenscheid to take another step in their lives as followers of Jesus. They joined FCJG, and for 10 years they were responsible for the rehab center House Wiedenhof. After laying this responsibility into competent hands, they were released to attend to the developments in FCJG with its local and international branches. Under their leadership FCJG has grown to an international mission with the following foundations: community life, worship and prayer, evangelism and missions, drug rehabilitation, reaching out to fringe groups and training.
Walter
loves God and people. He is a credited evangelist, a well-known speaker ... and a visionary! He has initiated much of what FCJG is known for today. Thousands have been impacted by his messages at the other Worship Service, seminars, conferences, etc. Many of these are holding positions in the kingdom of God today. He has also initiated or participated in national and international events, i.e.
- March for Jesus in Berlin (approx. 135,000 participants)
- Catch the Flame in Berlin (approx. 5,000 youth)
- The Call in Berlin (approx. 10,000 youth)
- Calling all Nations in Berlin (25,000 participants)
- STREAM 07 in Dortmund (3,600 participants)
- Day of Prayer & Fasting in Manila (approx. 100,000 youth)
Furthermore Walter is the author of several books. His autobiography – Help – I Need Somebody – is his most successful book. Worldwide hundreds of thousands have been blessed by it and a great number has had a life-changing encounter with Jesus through this book. After 20 years it is still ranging in the top-seller lists. Help has been translated into 12 languages so far. The sequel is called When Dreams Come True (only available in German).
Irene
loves Jesus and has always an open ear and heart for people. She established the structures for administration in FCJG and for 20 years was responsible for this part of the ministry. Today she is still helping with advice in order to efficiently administer the various ministry brances. Her heart's desire is to worship with this emphasis: "Let's look beyond our own limits and boundaries and develop a view for what God is doing and wants to do." For many years she toured with FCJG's worship band Tengerin Doo throughout Germany and abroad, and she was vitally involved in the development of worship events, such as
- In Your Presence in Lüdenscheid (approx. 4,000 participants)
- Revival Worship Event 2000 in Karlsruhe (approx. 8,500 participants)
- Come to the Light (takes place twice a year since 1993)
Jesus alone
„Everything is meant to serve this one aim: that people are getting saved, healed and delivered by the power of God." That's the emphasis of Walter's & Irene's lives and they teach about it: in FCJG and on their numerous trips throughout Germany and the world – "... that the Great Commission of Jesus will be fulfilled."
