The Philippines

consist of thousands of small islands. The Filipinos are a kind and happy people. In spite of prevelant poverty they are willing to freely share everything with everybody and also gladly share their life. You easily get in contact with them. Relationship is existential for the Filipinos. The closer the better, as long nobody has to be alone.

Great poverty draws many from their original islands and provinces to the cities, mainly the capital Manila. The economic situation of those sities isn't any better though. Too many times the dream of a better life and prosperity will break and the people end up in some slum area, where crime, abuse, drug addiction etc. are prevelant. You will find streetkids, beggars, cripples and the like in all bigger cities.

The Rock
HELP International Philippines has been ministring in Manila for the past 20 years: there is a drug rehab (Set Free Center), the City Mission and the Father’s House (home for former streetkids) as well as Noah’s Ark (orphanage). Recently "The Rock" – a drop-in for kids, teenagers and young people, opened. Here they are welcome, hear the gospel and receive prayer. Since fellowship during common meals is very important in Asia, we also provide yummy food for our guests as part of every gathering.

One main focus of the outreach will be evangelism among children, teenagers and young people (some of them drug addicts). We will reach out to them in slum areas, visit them and their families,
play with them, worship, pray for the people, share our testimonies, and how we live our life with Jesus on a day-by-day basis.

If you reach one person in the Philippines, whether children, teenagers or adults, you will reach the whole family. We are reaching out alongside the Holy Spirit, listening to him and do what he tells us, even if it means to spontaneously quit one thing and do another instead.
