Horizon Newsletter - June 2011
We sensed that God was speaking to us - despite culture shocks. Four years after this first excursion we founded our first ministry branch in Asia in the 14-million-metro Manila (the Philippines): a rehab center for drug addicts. Over the years ministry branches in Thailand, China, Siberia, Mongolia, and the USA as well as Vienna followed. The FCJG staff in the nations is serving the poor and needy with hearts full of love and with much affection and anticipation.
20th Anniversary of HELP International in Manila
Approx. 300 guests joint this birthday party. They came from Manila and other parts of the Philippines as well as from other nations. This ministry has grown into something extraordinary, expanding year by year. It was a joy to see the wonderful fruit. One of the many highlights during our visit was the DTS camp on Mindorro (an island four hours away from Manila). We were a crowd of 60 – young people, teenagers and children included – and had a great time together. In addition we spoke in devotions and ministered in staff meetings and preached in a church that we have known for many years.
The Philippines are going through a very good development as nation. As they are the only Christian nation in all of Asia, they are of strategic significance in many aspects.
Five years ago we sensed for the first time that God was speaking to us about Japan, and since we have been praying and asking God what to do. After the Tsunami and the nuclear disaster on March 11, 2011 we knew that we were to go to Japan to encourage and strengthen our brothers and sisters in Christ. For days we walked the mega city of Tokyo. We prayed at strategically important (or not so important) places proclaiming the word of God and prophetically calling forth the things we want to see: An uncountable people of God in Japan that cannot be overcome by anything or anyone!
Photos and a clip of our time in Japan are also available.
The Japanese part of the body of Christ is still very weak. We couldn't find big churches (with regards to numbers), and even the smaller ones are very rare. Of course, those Japanese who were hit by the disaster are desperate for our prayers and help. However, the biggest need in Japan is of spiritual nature. So many have not yet heard that God loves them, have never heard about the Gospel. Please pray with us that God may reveal to us in what way we are to impact Japan and its history and that many workers will move into God's big harvest field in that nation. You are shareholders in our ministry and in our approach to advance the kingdom of God worldwide.
