He who is gracious ...

"He who is gracious and lends a hand to the poor lends to the Lord, and the Lord will repay him for his good deeds." (Proverbs. 19:17)
A couple of days ago, Walter and a team from FCJG/HELP have come back from a missions trip to Nepal. We are connected to a local pastor who is anointed and blessed in running a church founding movement and ministering to the poor and needy.
Going to the Mountains
First steps first! We headed to the Tibetan border in the north of Nepal across country, came back to Kathmandu and went from there to the mountain region in the south, close to the border to India. Off road rides that took us to very poor Christian in the mountain villages. We met wonderful people who took the effort of a three-hour-walk just to attend the gatherings. The services lasted four hours and were filled with God's presence and love. After that the people walked back to their places for another four hours, this time carrying rice bags on their backs. Pastor Dil and his movement are tirelessly reaching out to these regions with the word of God and by granting practical help.
Water Baptism
One highlight was a walter baptism in the mountains. The river had lowered to a rivulet, so we prayed and then collected water in a hole which was specially dug. Finally, after several hours, we were able to baptize people in muddy water. No one was annoyed for taking so long. Rather the opposite - you could feel exhuberant expectation, and the Holy Spirit moved powerfully.

The first Christian
On our way back to Kathmandy, we visited with a 108-year-old man and his family. The old man was very weak and was lying on a bed in his simply shack. He was the very first to become a Christian in the mountain region. It was a privilege to encourage and pray for him. It is often not the big events that reflect God's love.
